19th century highwayman

Ride and discover the former wetlands, which represented since the early 19th century an ideal area for bandits to hide themselves from the authorities. Finally pass a more than 200 year old contemporary witness - the legendary ‘Rózsa Sándor Tree’ at where the guides shall tell the telling lore. Subsequently visit to the newly opened Rózsa Sándor commemorative house in Ásotthalom to learn more about this famous folk hero. Enjoy a home rode with the thought of the legendary bandits on horseback.

Hungarian Warm Blooded Horses

The horses at Homoki Lodge are fit, strong and healthy Hungarian Warmbloods or Hungarian Sport horse as it is also known. The Breed was developed at the Mezohegyes State Stud in Hungary. Through selective crossing out of Gidran, Kisberi, Achal Tiki, Nonius, North Star Furioso and Arabs, a ‘warmblood sport horse’ was established. Horses are kept in a herd nomad style, therefore the equines have time to sort their hierarchy and are then working relaxed under the rider.

Hungarian Trail Saddle

Horses are ridden in a traditional Hungarian Trail Saddle which is very safe and comfortable for it's rider and the horse. A 1000 year old ancient Hungarian saddle has been studied for many years and out of this developed a high-tech product. They ride English or Western saddles, then try them and they will order one for your home! For your convenience and the equines well-being horses shall be prepared and tacked up for you by the equestrian staff.

Local And Multiligual Guides

Trained riding guides accompany you on all riding tours through the meadows, woodlands, fields and marshes. For small groups and individual hack outs one horseback riding guide will be in charge. Larger groups are accompanied by a local cowboy and a multilingual back rider. Besides guiding they are in charge for the well-being of the horses and their knowledge of the landscape, history, fauna and flora is extensive.

Day tour to the buffalo reservation in Mórahalom

This is a long ride across the plains offering beautiful scenery of the flat Puszta landscape. For lunch enjoy a pick-nick at the observation platform to see protected wetlands through the naturalization of water buffalos (bubalus bubalus). At the the way back pass through the spa town of Mórahalom and perhaps the sandy soils to towards Homoki Lodge invite for some long canters.
